2012 – The Year of the Social PlanAs more people fully engage in social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn and others, it has never been more important to make social media an integral part of your marketing strategy. Whether you are a professional, entrepreneur, small business or large corporation, you need to have a company or business page profile on social networks.
You likely have a profile on Facebook and Twitter and you should ensure that you are not trying to use a personal profile for business. It’s important to have your own “vanity” real estate on those sites – your company name. Also ensure you set up a business page on Google+ and LinkedIn. Even a basic business listing page will show up in searches if a potential client is searching for your business.
It’s one thing to set up your social network sites but now you have to plan for social media success. Create a plan with clearly defined goals . Are you selling a product or service or do you want to provide value added or exclusive content for clients, or attract new potential customers? Do you want to use social media to drive traffic to your website? Once you know your goals then outline a plan of when and what you will post. Will you short posts, re-post from your blog with links, repost interesting information from around the web, include videos and photos? Will you use contests, surveys or coupons in your plan? You can make use of great free resources to schedule your postings such as Hootsuite.
Most professionals and small business owners are too busy to master social networking and too small to hire a social expert full-time – so -that is where I come in! I can do all of the above or you pick and choose. I am small business friendly (i.e. reasonably priced and no job is too small!!!).
